Mattresses & Bedding Components Fire Testing Standards

Mattresses or divans for use in domestic or contract applications are tested in accordance with

BS 7177:2008+A1:2011
Specification for resistance to ignition of mattresses, mattress pads, divans and bed bases

There are three hazard classifications, Low hazard, medium hazard and high hazard.

Low Hazard: BS EN 597-1/2 – Domestic
Medium Hazard: BS EN 597-1/2 and BS 6807:2006 (Ignition source 5) – Contract
High Hazard: BS EN 597-1/2 and BS 6807:2006 (Ignition source 7) – High Risk
